Directory of UN doctoral research

UNA-UK is setting up a directory of doctoral research on the United Nations. The aim is to facilitate communication between researchers and to encourage the sharing of ideas. Those who register their research project will be invited to appropriate UN-related events held under UNA-UK auspices. Click here to find out more.

In 2006, UNA-UK launched its 'virtual' expert Advisory Panel, comprised of the UK's leading experts on issues of relevance to the UN. The panel's membership continues to develop. Its current membership is as follows:

The paper reviews the UN's experiences and options in the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, the Israel-Syria-Lebanon triangle, Iraq and Iran.

Based on detailed interviews in the region in the first half of this year, the paper argues that shifting political dynamics may create new demand for a UN role in the region - but that this requires realism about what the UN can and cannot achieve there.
