15 September - Letter from UNA-UK to the FT on the UK's nuclear posture

In a letter to the Financial Times, published today, UNA-UK Chair Lord Hannay of Chiswick elaborated on arguments outlined in the FT article 'Cameron's middle way on Trident' and underscored the international argument for moving away from 'continuous at sea deterrence'.

Lord Hannay stated that the conclusions of the May 2010 Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty Review Conference encouraged a less prominent role for nuclear weapons in the defence doctrines of nuclear recognised states, which includes Britain.
