26 July - UNA Youth drafts statement for high-level UN meeting in New York

UNA-UK’s youth delegation arrived at the United Nations in New York on 25 July, to participate in a two-day meeting focusing on the theme of “Youth: Dialogue and Mutual Understanding”. Launched by the General Assembly, the high-level meeting was devoted to tackling the challenges facing the world's youth and exploring their potential to bring about change in their societies and in the world at large. The meeting was among events to mark the International Year of Youth, which comes to a close on International Youth Day on 12 August.

UNA-UK’s delegation included Mitali Nikore, a member of the 2010/11 UNA Youth Council, who drafted UNA Youth's statement identifying youth unemployment as the key challenge.
