Teach Model UN in Ghana!

Following a last minute release of funds, UNA-UK is able to offer up to two Model UN volunteer positions in Ghana this summer. Volunteers will be assisting Life-Link Ghana. Life-Link are preparing school children throughout Ghana to take part in a large Model UN conference in Accra at the end of October. The volunteer(s) will travel to Ghana at the end of July to train high school and junior high school students in UN issues, giving them the skills to become Model UN delegates. They will stay until mid-September. Volunteers must be at least 18 years of age and must be UNYSA members.

Please note that UNA-UK will place the chosen candidate with Life-Link Ghana. UNA-UK will pay for travel to Ghana, vaccinations and malaria tablets, and visa fees. Life-Link will cover food, accommodation (in homestays) and transport within Ghana. The chosen candidate(s) will be responsible for arranging their own insurance.

If you are interested in applying for this role, please send Mark Rusling a letter of no more than two pages, by email attachment to rusling (at) una.org.uk, to arrive no later than 10am on Friday 4th July. The letter should explain why you should be chosen to take part in this project, including the following details:

  • your Model UN experience
  • your experience of teaching, or of furthering the UN's aims within schools
  • your UNYSA experience
  • the skills that you possess that would make you especially suited for this role
  • a paragraph explaining why you think that projects such as this are important
