Charting a path to a world without nuclear weapons

 

UNA-UK has been awarded a major five-year ‘Special Peace Grant’ (administered by the Joseph Rowntree Charitable Trust) to work on furthering multilateral nuclear disarmament and non-proliferation.

With this grant and co-funding from the UNA Trust and the John Bright Fund, we have launched ‘Towards Zero’, which builds on UNA-UK’s long tradition of disarmament campaigning.

We will be regularly reporting on this campaign through our website, newsletters and a new dedicated section in our magazine New World.

UNA-UK's Chair, Lord Hannay, speaks about nuclear non-proliferation on a special edition of the BBC's Today Programme

UNA-UK's Chair Lord Hannay, together with Gareth Evans, the former Australian foreign secretary, contributed to a special edition of the BBC's Today Programme. Lord Hannay was invited by guest editor, Baroness Shirley Williams, who is the Prime Minister's advisor on nuclear non-proliferation issues, to discuss the risk that nuclear arms still pose to the world.

Building on decades of campaigning

UNA-UK has a long history of campaigning on nuclear non-proliferation and multilateral disarmament. To bring these issues to the fore on a national and international level, UNA-UK has organised events, carried out targeted advocacy, and produced a wide range of resources.
