INFORMATION FOR JOBSEEKERS Background information on UN internships The UN Secretariat (i.e. the UN organ headed by the Secretary-General) has its main headquarters in New York, with offices in Geneva, Vienna and Nairobi. There is no UK 'office' or 'branch' of the UN (Secretariat) in London. Only one UN agency - the International Maritime Organisation - has its headquarters in the UK (for details of IMO internships click here). Other UN bodies - the UN Refugee Agency (UNHCR), the World Food Programme (WFP) and the UN Development Programme (UNDP) - have small offices in London. Go to www.unhcr.org.uk for details of UNHCR's intership programme. Background information on employment at the UN UNA-UK's Young Professionals Network is active in disseminating UN careers information and advice among its members.
