Digital Communications Officer

Salary range 22,140 to £25,939 p.a. (pro rata) plus 10% pension, depending on experience

Hours: 17.5 hours per week. London

UNA-UK is the UK’s leading source of independent analysis on the United Nations and a grassroots membership organisation with a network of supporters across the UK.

We are seeking a dynamic, highly literate and exceptionally organised individual to play a key role in maintaining and enhancing our online presence.

Reporting to the Head of Policy & Communications, the post-holder will be responsible for the day-to-day management of the UNA-UK website and social media satellites. S/he will also be involved in producing print and online outputs (such as UNA-UK’s flagship magazine New World), and in providing communications support to our members.

Experience of maintaining and developing websites (including familiarity with relevant software packages such as Dreamweaver, Adobe) is essential, as are excellent writing skills. Prior exposure to media work is desirable.

Volunteering at UNA-UK:
UNA-UK greatly values the contribution of volunteers. We particularly welcome applications from individuals who combine an interest in the UN with practical skills that can help us facilitate our advocacy work and outreach to our membership, the media and our youth and student and young professionals networks. We strive to ensure that all volunteers benefit from their time with UNA-UK, through exposure to key UN issues and opportunities for development arising from practical experience at a leading NGO.

Essential Information:

  • We are not the UN and cannot help you with attaining an internship at the UN.
  • UNA-UK is based entirely in the UK. All internships are based in our office in London and we cannot place volunteers abroad.
  • We do not offer work experience placements.
  • While we welcome applications from individuals with diverse backgrounds, our interns are generally university graduates or postgraduates.
  • UNA-UK internships are unpaid.
  • UNA-UK internships generally entail a commitment of 3 days per week, for at least 3 months.
  • Exceptional writing skills are an essential requirement for all UNA-UK internships. We also particularly welcome applications from individuals with experience of HTML or webpage editing software.
  • Due to the large number of applications we receive, we can only respond to candidates whom we wish to take forward to interview.
