UNYSA brings together young people (university, college and school students) from across the UK who are passionate about the need for a strong, credible and effective UN. Kingston UNYSA fundraising success
|
|
In February Kingston UNYSA teamed up with a number of societies at Kingston University to raise funds for the relief efforts in Haiti. The event was a huge success and raised a whopping £3,500. Donations are still coming in.
Funds raised will be donated to the World Food Programme, which is mobilising all available resources to bring urgently needed food assistance to thousands of people affected by the devastating earthquake which hit Haiti on 12 January, causing massive death and destruction.

99 days to UN Forum - 12 June 2010 Take part in UN Forum 2010, the UK’s largest civil society event on the United Nations.
This one-day conference will explore the theme ‘An effective UN in a more secure and just world’ and will feature presentations by high-level speakers, panel discussions and workshops. This is an unmissable event for those with a keen interest in international relations!

Pugwash UK essay competition
|
Voice Your Vision - What advice would you give the next British Government on a key science or technology topic? The contest is open to all persons aged 18-35 residing in the UK or those enrolled as a full-time student in a UK university at the time of submission. UNESCO journalism competition UNESCO has launched a student journalism competition to mark World Press Freedom Day 2010. The winning entry written under the title “Unregulated political comment online helps the democratic process” will be awarded a £500 cash prize.

UNA-UK - conference assistants for UN Forum - 12 June 2010 We are looking for ten enthusiastic and hardworking individuals to help ensure the smooth running of this exciting and unique civil society event. You will need to be available from 9am until 7pm (with food breaks!) on the day of the event, as well as for a three-hour advance run-through the week before. Conference assistants will receive a payment of £90, plus a special limited edition event t-shirt!

ACUNS Dissertation Award Program
ACUNS is offering an award of US $1000 for dissertations that look beyond the substance of a particular global problem and the applicant’s disciplinary background and clearly demonstrate a direct link to institutional issues of the UN system. To be eligible candidates must:
- Be at the Ph.D, J.S.D. or LL.M. level and engaged in the writing stage of their programme
- To become a member of ACUNS
