DEBT RELIEF

UNYSA is supporting the Jubilee Debt Campaign to raise awareness about the impact of debt on developing nations and to encourage the UK government and multilateral creditor organisations to cancel the debts of low-income countries.

Achieving the UN Millennium Development Goals will not be possible unless developing countries’ onerous external debt is cancelled and money released to be spent on providing education, health care, and other basic public services.

It is up to us, citizens of one of the world’s creditor states, to pressure our government to forgive the debts of the world’s poorest nations and remove the harmful conditions attached to multilateral and bilateral debt relief in order to help millions of people escape from abject poverty.

For more information and for ways that you can get involved in this campaign, please visit the UNYSA debt relief factsheet.
