United Nations Youth & Student Association of the UK

is there a UNYSA branch near me...?

Within the United Nations Associatiion of the UK national network there are both ordinary branches for all members of all ages, and special youth branches - run by and for UNYSA-UK members to provide a wide range of activities for youth and student members.

To find out if there is a group at your university, email us at unysa (at) una.org.uk. If there isn't a group at your university, why not set one up? However, you don't need to be near a branch to join UNYSA-UK, because there are lots of activities going on nationally that you'll be able to join in with.

What's more, groups of new members are getting together and setting up more youth branches all the time. There are also normal UNA-UK branches across the country, so you'll be able to join in their events. To find your nearest UNA-UK branch, click here. If you want more information about setting up a UNYSA branch - see below.

Events

UNYSA members receive invitations both to the many UNYSA events which are held across the country and to major events hosted by UNA-UK.

UNA-UK regularly hosts talks by senior United Nations representatives. In January 2006, UN Secretary-General Kofi Annan gave an address in London under UNA-UK auspices to commemorate the 60th anniversary of the first session of the UN General Assembly.

You can find out about upcoming UNA-UK national, regional and branch events by visiting the UNA-UK events calendar.

If you have an event you would like to publicise via the events calendar, please e-mail unysa (at) una.org.uk

how do I set up a branch...?

We have a booklet to help you to set up a new branch at your school or university: A Guide to UNYSA (PDF). In this booklet you will find information about UNYSA. It is a practical guide for how to set up a UNYSA branch, how to get new members, how to deal with the media, how to organise events, etc.

If you're interested in setting up a youth branch yourself, do get in touch and we'll be happy to help: e-mail unysa (at) una.org.uk. The Youth Council officers are always available to help and advise branches new and old!
