On Wednesday, 12 March the Young Professionals Network (YPN) of the UN Association of the UK held a prestigious reception in the Locarno Rooms of the Foreign and Commonwealth Office to mark the launch of its 2008 programme.

After opening addresses from Sam Daws (UNA-UK Executive Director) and Paul Johnston (Head of the FCO International Security Directorate), the British Foreign Secretary, David Miliband, delivered remarks on behalf of the FCO. Andrew Smith (Chair of the YPN) closed the talks with a brief overview of YPN's goals for the year.

The reception provided an opportunity for YPN members to learn more about the Network's expanded programme, which now features three areas of focus - Working for Peace, UN & the Law, and Business & the MDGs - as well as a new online guide about careers at the UN and related organisations.

The Foreign Secretary has since posted a blog about his impressions of UNA-UK's Young Professionals Network (YPN), which you can read by clicking here.
